We were to have our submissions juried this morning but the COV-19 pandemic has interrupted our plans. The show has been postponed for at least 3 days but likely for several weeks. We will be notified Tuesday as to the way forward. The show was held on-line at the the Allied Arts Council Instagram account. Framed at 15x12 inches in a matte black wood shadow box frame Double matted with warm white Print at 8x10 inches Title - Foggy Morning This was taken in March last year during my early morning walk. I see that there was a lot less snow last year. It leaves one wondering what lies ahead and where do the stairs on the right lead to? I like the white birch trees on the right balanced by a bit of snow on the left. The bend in the path leads to bottom left hand third of the image. Framed at 14x14 inches in a matte black wood frame Single matted with warm white Print at 6x6 inches Title - Moon Rising This is another shot from my oil on water session. I decided to take advantage of the color separation of the blue and green. I lightened the bubble in the top right hand corner to create a "moon". Increasing the contrast darken it so I had to increase the brightness as much as I could without losing the effect I wanted. Framed at 14x12 inches in a wood grain distressed wood frame
Double matted with granite grey Print at 6x8 inches Title - Wood Sculpture This photograph was taken earlier this year at the Antique Mall. It was a sculpture about 6 inches tall. I loved the circular wood structure at the top but the monkey holding it over it's head I could do without. I decided to put it on the natural wood floor to provide a nice background to complement the wood focal point. By positioning myself carefully I was able to eliminate the figure and keep just the wonderful texture and shape of the "flower". I don't know what the wood piece was originally but it is very interesting. The monkey was carved but I get the sense that circular shape is a natural object.

I delivered my submissions for the Abstraction Show this morning. This shot resulted from my oil on water experiments earlier this year. It is frame at 10x10 inches Matted with a double mat of black to high light the lines and blue to repeat the background. The photo is printed at 6x6 inches. The title is - The 3 of Us - SOLD This is piece of peeling paint on a metal fence I captured this summer. It is frame in a 10x10 beech wood frame. It is matted with black. The print is done at 6x6 inches The title is "The Golden Edge" The original object was lights at the top of a light standard. I did apply a filter to the image which accented the lines. Once that was done eyes appeared!
Framed at 11x14 inches in a matte black metal frame. Double matted with black. Print at 8x10 Title - Kermit in Blue These are the photo calendars I prepared this year. They contain 12 monthly pages of 4x6 and 1 index page with the thumbnail images. They can be hung on a fridge or file cabinet with a bull clip and magnet, or hung on a bulletin board with a pushpin, or hung on a string with small clothes pins. Being 4x6 they can be displayed in a standard photo frame which matches your decor.
I decided that I did not have to leave the city to set out on a photography trip. I checked with Google Maps and headed off shortly after 6:00 am. My destination was Village at Griesbach which is an award winning urban village in the north end of the city. It is built on the site of a former Canadian Forces Base. Plans call for an extensive network of parks, trails and four stormwater lakes to provide recreational opportunities for residents. A central park provides views to the downtown, a community garden and a toboggan hill. When completed, the development will have 112 acres (44 hectares) of schools, parks and open spaces.

One of my challenges on Flickr was Oil on Water. It was on my "Photography Techniques to Try list but I had not so far. Well, it was time. This is the video I found most helpful on line. Visual Arts Photography Tutorial Macro - Using Oil, Water and Food Coloring I've done 3 different photo sessions with this technique. My photos have improved as I learn more about the process. Warning - This process is very addictive and deciding which shots to keep is very time consuming.
I found the experience very worth while. Give it a try! I dropped these photographs off at the Gallery this morning.
