Where I post about my road trips, photo shoots, inspirations and tips. |
Framed at 13.25x17.25 inches in a matte black wood shadow box frame with plexiglass
Single matted with white Print at 8x10 Title - Sunburst This photograph was taken on a summer morning walk in the river valley. I got up really early so that I would be at the river when the sun rose. This was captured as the sun burst over the horizon. It puts the old Rossdale Water Treatment Plant and the Walterdale Bridge in silhouette. These are both iconic structures in our river valley. It was a great photo shoot in the river valley.

I decided that I did not have to leave the city to set out on a photography trip. I checked with Google Maps and headed off shortly after 6:00 am. My destination was Village at Griesbach which is an award winning urban village in the north end of the city. It is built on the site of a former Canadian Forces Base. Plans call for an extensive network of parks, trails and four stormwater lakes to provide recreational opportunities for residents. A central park provides views to the downtown, a community garden and a toboggan hill. When completed, the development will have 112 acres (44 hectares) of schools, parks and open spaces.
I was able to take a trip to Drumheller to do some photography work so while I was on the road I decided to take in some of the sighs along the way. I have been there many times but it is a most special place. I always look forward to going south on Highway 56 and coming over the crest of the valley into Drumheller. It feels like an alien world. The valley was greener and wetter (relatively speaking) than my other visits.
The presentation of the exhibits has been updated since my last visit. There are more interactive stations to keep children engaged. Thank goodness it is a huge place as there were many visitors that day. I always enjoy the museum.
